Cryotherapy warts removal or cryosurgery is the removal of skin lesions by freezing them. Thanks to the very low temperature, Nitrogen oxide is used to freeze the tissue. Often, doctors use this to remove many harmless lumps and blemishes.

What is Cryotherapy?

A fine jet of nitrous oxide is sprayed onto the skin carefully to 1mm precision. Although there is pain from the freezing, it only lasts a few seconds. Subsequently, the frozen white skin takes one to two minutes to thaw back to normal skin temperature. However, the thicker and deeper lesions will need to have this process repeated.

How does Cryotherapy work?

The nitrous oxide sprayed from the cryotherapy device freezes the tissue. The destruction of the unwanted tissue starts during thawing.  After that you may see some redness and swelling in the treated areas. After a few days, a scab will form. Over the next 1-2 weeks this will fall off leaving behind healthy skin. Throughout the next 4 weeks, healing will continue.

What can Cryotherapy or Cryosurgery treat?

Cryotherapy can treat many skin imperfections. We can treat warts, verruca, skin tags, age spots, cherry angioma (blood spots), seborrheic keratosis, seborrheic warts, and milia.

How long does Cryotherapy last?

Studies have shown that results are permanent even after just one session. However, some lesions can come back if the right aftercare is not taken or you are prone to them. Our doctors will tell you if you need more than one session.

What to do after your treatment?

Avoid touching or scratching the area. It is important not to pick any scabs as this will encourage scarring. Apply sun block with factor 50 to the area until it has completely healed.

If you develop any blisters, do not bust them. If it does burst leave it to dry and scab. Keep the area dry and clean.
