NHS Prescription
If you would prefer to get your medication via the NHS, you may discuss this with your GP and share your treatment plan. An NHS prescription may be issued at their discretion.

Repeat Prescription
Repeat prescriptions can be issued for up to 6 months from your last consultation where suitable following receipt of repeat prescription fee. Please note that only one private prescription is included as part of your dermatology consultation. Any additional prescriptions, follow-up reviews, or changes to treatment will incur further fees.
Getting Your Private Prescription
We use a secure, GMC-approved digital prescribing platform. This allows us to issue your private prescription electronically — without the need for a paper copy — ensuring faster, safer access to your treatment.
By Text & Email
Your prescription will be sent to you via text and email, usually within a few hours of your consultation. To access it, you’ll need your date of birth and a secure prescription code provided.
Widely Accepted
Your electronic prescription can be redeemed at most high street pharmacies, including major chains like Boots, Superdrug, and others.
Home Delivery
Once your prescription is issued, you’ll have the option to order your medication for delivery directly to your chosen address, using our secure digital platform.
Special Medications
Some prescription treatments, such as tretinoin, hydroquinone, or other compounded creams, are specially formulated and dispensed via our trusted pharmacy partners. These are not available via your local pharmacy.
Personalised
Formulated based on your skin’s unique needs, we use prescription ingredients for managing concerns like pigmentation, acne, or ageing.
Consultation Required
Following a consultation, if suitable, you’ll be given the option to purchase the prescription through our clinic. Pricing is provided after consultation.

Do I need a consultation to get a private dermatology prescription?
Yes. All private dermatology prescriptions at Dr.Derme are issued following a dermatology consultation with one of our doctors. Prescriptions are only provided where clinically appropriate.
What’s the difference between private and NHS dermatology prescriptions?
Private dermatology prescriptions are issued directly following your consultation, allowing immediate access to treatment.
NHS prescriptions must be requested through your GP and are subject to their clinical approval and standard NHS processes.
How quickly will I receive my private prescription?
You’ll receive a digital prescription code via text or email shortly after your consultation. This allows you to collect your medication without delay.
Can I use my private prescription at any pharmacy?
Yes, you’re free to use any pharmacy that accepts Signature RX. Most major pharmacies do, including Boots and Superdrug. If your chosen pharmacy isn’t familiar with Signature RX, we recommend trying one of these providers.
We also recommend comparing prices, as they can vary between providers.
How do NHS prescriptions work through Dr.Derme?
While we don’t issue NHS prescriptions directly, we’ll provide all the information you need to request the treatment from your GP. If approved, your GP will issue the prescription, and you can collect it as usual.
Will my GP approve the NHS prescription request?
Approval is at your GP’s discretion. We’ll provide a detailed summary of the recommended treatment, which you can share with them to support your request.
Do I have to pay for my medication separately?
Yes, medication costs are not included in the consultation fee. You’ll pay for your prescription at the pharmacy.
For private prescriptions, this will be the full cost of the medication.
For NHS prescriptions, this will be subsidised.
What is Signature RX?
Signature RX is a secure digital prescription service used by Dr.Derme. Instead of a paper prescription, you’ll receive a code via text or email shortly after your consultation. Simply take this code to a pharmacy. It’s a quick and convenient way to access your medication without the need for printed paperwork.
